Michelle turned 40 and her lovely Mum Val threw her a surprise party on a warm Melbourne Cup afternoon. Her love if Owls inspired me to create another one off bag. I feel like each bag I create extends the possibilities. It is a lot of fun to be able to shape something…create something that fits the person you care about. It is a lovely way of extending an idea and playing with different possibilities,

The bag uses the TAP transfer technique as well as overpainting and drawing, sprayed stencils and paint brush details such as the stripey edges. It was fun and of course once I start on a special project, it ends up taking longer than expected. I looked for a quote on the web…even searched Rumi quotes but couldn’t find one. I was running out of time as I had to be at Vals by 4.30 so I decided to shape my own quote instead. It fitted the sentiment I wanted and deepened the personal feel of the piece. Only problem is that she doesn’t want to use it as she is afraid of damaging. Glad she loved it but hope she uses it?
