SHARING OWL WISDOMHerring Island 2018

I have spent a little while refining my whimsical owl paintings for 2 exciting upcoming group art shows. I love the Herring Island Art Festival as every year I seem to introduce this beautiful little island to new friends who come to enjoy the art opening.

HERRING ISLAND

Herring Island was a man made island that is now a small bush haven in Melbourne. It is situated on theYarra and is a small island with lots of beautiful outdoor sculptures set amidst a bush setting. The single building on the island is the old scout hall where the art festival shows are held. The old Scout hall was renovated to form the Herring Island Gallery. It is open for the summer arts festival and available for functions and exhibitions.

It is such a beautiful and peaceful place to escape to. It is accessible via punt but is only open on weekends and public holidays over summer…unless you have your own boat of course. A friend recently told me that she had spent a lot of time rowing around the island but never got to land. She went to school at Wesley andso this was there practice zone.

EXHIBITIONS

My whimsical  owl paintings and a range of art cards will be for sale as part of the Contemporary Art Society group shows at the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival. Explore art and nature in this beautiful bush  space to escape in Melbourne CBD. Australian artists showcasing there art in a range of media.I am a member of the Contemporary Art Society that is a wonderful group to share art adventures with a variety of exhibition opportunities throughout the year. I will be exhibiting in the final 2 shows in the Herring Island Arts Festival.

This year I will exhibit my whimsical owls in both shows as they fit the theme for Contemporary by Nature and the location for the A4 Art Australia show.

The 2 pieces below are ready to exhibit. I am still putting the final touches on my 4 A4 whimsical owl pieces that will all be sent in later this week. I will. add the A4 pieces when they are complete…hopefully later today.

Works will show interpretations of the natural world in painting, photography, works on paper & sculpture, by a wide range of Australian contemporary artists. Some of the exhibiting artists will be present throughout the exhibition to talk about the works.’  http://www.contemporaryartsociety.org.au

It is such a beautiful location and I do hope that you get the chance to visit…perhaps a picnic and a walk. There is nowhere to buy food on the island so a picnic is perfect. My favourite spot is sitting in the stone boat piece set into one of the corners of the island. A beautiful spot to look out over the Yarra river.

Love and blessings
