Time moves on and I get distracted. I forgot about this photo that Shane took of me at Walker Street Gallery in Dandong in front of my entry piece. This is my mixed media mother and child piece tilted “Connection”.  So glad to be in this national juried show as it gets more competitive each year and it is always nice to exhibit with a whole lot of talented women artists.

She 2016+

She is the moment of connection gazing across generations layered in memory .

As you gaze into her eyes are you the mother or are you the child and does your connection shift, the longer you gaze at her? Is she grandmother or mother or daughter/child looking through the eyes of a much older soul? Can you feel the soft caress of her hand brushing your cheek gently as memories drift into consciousness and transport you to a heart connection living in your own remembering? The sense of wonder lingers The willow leaves transforming her hair dangle freely, transporting me to a childhood place where the weeping willow was sanctuary, tree house and friend. The blue light illuminates some dreamed of possibility that in this moment is attained and yet I know that this is but a brief moment between hospital visits and separations. This is the realization of the dream of safety and belonging, no matter how transient. All my pieces are visual narratives…layered stories unfolding within multiple symbolic images. Create your own version of the story as you view it and become part of the story. This is a story about openings so here is a glimpse of how her story begins.
