CHANGE HAPPENS- Leap

When was the last time you leapt into a new project or new way of working without really understanding all the details? This is me today as I am happily working on my one big project focus. I want to be able to share this as a collection…yes I have lots of different collections but something new has emerged in 2021. I’m finding myself drawn to the ideas of these Guided Earth Stories and the ability to step back and see the horizon.

A video of my process and the dreaming spaces it inspires as I grow into new ways of connecting.

Tranquility of Trees

Finally decided what to name this new collection. My heart longs for the bush and the way nature fills me up. Painting these tree stories grounds me and I seem to be stepping into a magical dreamscape. These small pieces are all about calm connection and those spaces where we feel most alive and energised.
I hope you are finding ways to connect with what grounds you and brings harmony into your days.

HER LANDSCAPE: Inner Landscapes – Outer Worlds

My first collection that started late last year is ‘Her Landscape: Inner stories – Outer worlds’ It is all about how we connect to our own storied lives and interpret our world from the inside out. I love this story focus and the art pieces have evolved but I have shared very little of it. It is time and so I’m updating my gallery which is a lovely work in progress. As I’m changing the whole format, it is a growing, evolving page…its all that learning curve that is a challenge and fun at the same time. These are a few of the small artworks on paper. There are many more and it is time to add final touches and share them.

GUIDED EARTH STORIES

These pieces were the beginning of my Guided Earth focus and there are many more that are yet to be shared. These pieces are still evolving but somehow they were the impetus to question how I gather some of that feeling of connection that I get from the landscape and paint that feeling as nature. What if I made nature the star? I knew that world events had created a shift in the art stories I was creating. The ‘Her Story’ collection marked a big shift in my way of seeing the world and how to put the pieces together. Early this year I completed a canvas piece for the Dandenong Ranges Open Studios 2021 (postponed from 2020). This stepped me into larger pieces in the series. It was lovely to exhibit at the Burrinja group show for this event and now it’s time to share online.

And She invited a new beginning

BLUETHUMB beginnings

I have begun adding art to Bluethumb which is an Australian online art sales platform that is supportive and local which has become so important. It is also a lovely community of connection which I have really missed with the lack of exhibitions and art group catch-ups. I will continue to explore this as I grow the possibilities of how I share but for now, I am adding these pieces to Bluethumb and seeing where it leads. I added this piece a couple of days ago and it was staff picked which was lovely feedback and support. I have begun but such a long way to go as I’m adding a lot of what hasn’t been seen as I was so focused on real-world connection and now the shift to online is inspiring me to make new decisions

TRANQUILITY OF TREES

The last couple of years have been scattered with lockdowns and separation…where do I find my story of calm and connection in this.

This is where the new collection evolved…I wanted the calm and tranquility of being in the bush when I couldn’t be there myself. How could I create that feeling in my art so I could share that experience? I decided to paint trees and still had a desire for people and animals so most have a small animal or figure somewhere. This is what I’m focusing on right now – my one BIG thing. I say big but most of the pieces are quite small and have evolved into diptychs and one triptych. They wanted the multiple canvases which were new and a little exciting in the possibilities they held. It felt right as we navigated together and separate. There was an ease in knowing that there was this beautiful calm space next to another space…we were part of a larger whole.

My wish in creating these pieces is that the sense of calm and tranquility comes through these imagined landscapes and invites you into your own peaceful stories and memories of nature and earth connection. Nature is where I ground and fill up so it seemed a natural progression. Each piece is growing through the layers as I learn to create in new spaces and see a more distant horizon and the close-up detail.  It is a reminder of the Earth and her support as we move forward together.

These are my first 3 completed pieces in this series and there are many more to come.

A couple of works in progress and a journal page to see where the story questions of tranquil spaces and trees are taking me.

As this Earth Guide Story evolves and I learn to leap and share more often, I’m grateful for all the ways we can connect and find our own stories waiting for us. Hope you are finding the spaces of calm that fill you up and connect to your tranquil story places.

Follow along as I continue to add to these stories of connection. Love to hear about your stories of connection and the ways you find your own balance and flow as we adjust and grow into our new stories.

Love and Blessings,
