Well I am busy painting for my up coming group show. My eyes started running, like someone threw salt in them. Got to a stage where my vision started to blur. The doctor originally thought it was conjunctivitis but my eyes were dry. I was sitting in the theatre at school listening to the school principal talking and realised that she was blurring. That is when I stopped listening and went into my worry space . It didn’t make sense so I made a doctors appointment. He wanted to send me to the eye and ear hospital as light sensitivity and blurred vision are a big concern. It was Monday arvo at about 5 ish but thought I could find a local optometrist which I dud. Certainly did not want the city run with eye issues unless no choice. To cut a long story short…if you work too much on detailed paintings your eyes complain. It was severe eye strain. No headaches so I didn’t think this was possible. But it was a relief. I got no 1 magnifying glasses and now I have to wear them whenever I am reading or painting. Hate using glasses for painting but better than eye pain and dryness.

The lesson in all this, I think, is learn to look up and blink regularly. Check out the world around you. Don’t be too focused on one thing. Passion is wonderful but it can be overwhelming at times. The eyes are the window to the soul and we need to nurture them if we are to see our world clearly.

The good news is that I can now paint and my eyes are getting better. What a learning curve. Anyway today I painted Angels and flowers. I think I needed the Angels but they are not finished yet so I will share me flower paintings.
