I little bit bigger than I first thought!

Ia little bit bigger than I first thought!

I have been working on my background layers.i am so aware that this book is to big. When I was laying on further collage elements, the acrylic paint and inks, I realized that the piece was approximately the length of my studio. I was working on the floor as a table top was not big enough ( and honestly the floor is  a favorite creative place to work).  I will end up playing and taking out sections to make it easier to work with. Especially if I want to add flaps etc. as I will never finish it by Xmas. The marine blur, sap green and vivid lime green create a strong base. This is the step before adding photos, gesso areas and extensions. So many ideas spinning in my mind. I have added a torn out heart shape throughout which fits the wedding celebration theme.

This project is definitely a challenge but I am enjoying a very different learning curve and working out the complexities of this book format. I hadn’t thought about the fact that it is easily as much work as a large canvas painting. With art you never stop learning and each new piece is a new adventure. Isn’t that one of the things that makes art so interesting and continues to spark our passions….?
